University Courses

I have taught the following courses, mainly for undergraduates, at the Unversity of the Arts Berlin. More recently, I have taught a methods course on online content analysis for students in our master programme Empirical Communication Research in Hohenheim.

  1. Advanced methods in communication research (Fall 2010, 2011)
  2. Current topics in communication research (Spring 2009)
  3. Online research (Fall 2008)
  4. User generated content (Spring 2008)
  5. Statistics and data analysis using SPSS (Fall 2006, Spring 2007)
  6. Election campaigns and mass media (Spring 2007)
  7. Media use and effects (Spring 2007, 2008, 2009)
    1. Workshops

Jens Vogelgesang and I have taught over 20 courses for fellow social scientists for the last 5 years, some of which are part of summer schools in Berlin and elsewhere. Lately, we have also offered in-house workshops at many communication and economics departments.

Most often, we teach a 3-4 day workshop on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), either as a basic course or an advanced course on panel data analysis using autoregressive and growth curve models, both with AMOS and Mplus software. We have also taught special one-day courses on Latent Class Analysis (LCA) and Multilevel Modeling using Mplus.

Jens regularly publishes announcements for workshops on Structural Equation and Multilevel Modeling (including our own) in Europe on the SEM Blog. If you are interested in having us teach a workshop in your department, please contact Jens or me.
