Server upgrades done
August 2nd, 2007 | Administrivia | Tags: AdministriviaAs of today, this site is served by Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty. I updated from 6.06 LTS because it turned out to be more important to have current software than everlasting security updates. Since there is no real upgrade path from LTS versions, there is no appropriate time for an update anyway. After backing things up I upgraded incrementally via 6.10 to 7.04 with surprisingly little trouble compared to the efforts of keeping my notebook on the latest Ubuntu. Only libsasl2 could not be bothered to work, and was consequently replaced by dovecot-auth which I had wanted to use for as long as Postfix offered the option. Dovecot and Postfix are both awesome and fit together perfectly.
